Second Nature Language of Love No 30 Nora Roberts 9780373510306 Books Reviews
I love Nora Roberts. She writes beautifully. The only problem with her stories is that they are really hard to put down. You start out to read "a little" before sleeping and the next thing you know, you are wondering how it is suddenly 3am. This book was no exception,
I am so disappointed in the lack of transparency about the age of this book. Another re-package to make more money from unsispecting readers. A travesty and a breach of confidence. I paid $9 for a book I have read before without the recourse to return. Very very disappointed.
Good book- old Roberts and littel substence. SHe's certainly improved over the years, but this is too expensive. My first clue was that the writer was using a word processor and that there were no cell phones.
It was a well written love story but totally predictable. It took place mainly in Arizona so it was interesting hearing about that part of the country. It was a good summer read, nothing too thrilling but held your interest. I've read a lot better from Nora Roberts.
Lee Radcliffe has found her niche, or so she believes, as a journalist for Celebrity magazine. Her life in LA suits her, and all she really needs at this moment to boost her career is an interview with the elusive horror novelist Hunter Brown.
When she discovers that he will be speaking at a writer's conference in Flagstaff, she signs on.
From the very first moment she lands in Flagstaff, everything is slightly askew. Nothing is quite the way it seems, and over the next two days, she discovers for the first time that life often requires adjustments. Conditions.
For two weeks, Lee joins Hunter on an adventurous camping trip in the Oak Creek Canyon near Sedona. And as she tests herself physically, she discovers the lengths to which she will go to achieve her dreams. But she hadn't counted on what could happen to alter everything.
Second Nature is a romantic journey that kept me turning those pages, wondering what would happen, while enjoying the setting that I have personally experienced. A fan of the Sedona area, I couldn't wait to revisit it in this novel. And I loved the push-pull of the relationship between Lee and Hunter, as they fought the powerful attraction between them. Until they didn't. 4.0 stars.
Excellent story of a writer and a magazine reporter that is after a story on the identity and past of a newly renowned writer.
The author lea the writer and reporter into a complicated relationship that includes a camping trip in the area around Sedona, Arizona.
The reporter learns that she can leave the prissy, primpy, perfectionist attitude she has developed and maintains at the magazine and fall into a loving relationship with a man that is completely different than her.
Great story ending when she realizes she can't return to the former life style and that she is in love with the writer.
This book was written in the '80s. "Powering down his wordprocessor," was funny, but a lot of the challenges facing the characters are no longer what they were. Not old enough to be a period piece and not current enough to be a contemporary romance this story is left in no man's land. It was predictable and not Roberts' best work.
Okay for a free read, but I would choose something different. With so many good books out there, I would spend my money elsewhere.
My first clue was that he was smoking cigarettes and using a manual typewriter. Old book revisited. I HATE paying for something I not only have read before, but still have somewhere. other than that, her stories are always tight. I love her writing style.
Like too many others Roberts has written .... nothing new in this one.
She is losing her touch or had a bad writing spell.
Even I could figure out the ending.
